The facility will be the latest Cone Health effort connecting health care and well-being services.

Greensboro– Cone Health will build a 12,000 sq. ft. facility in Welden Village in Kernersville. The facility will initially offer primary care with lab services as well as weight management and wellness components. The development sits across Hwy. 66 from Cone Health MedCenter Kernersville.

The location supports Cone Health’s philosophy of bringing health and wellness to where people live. “We wondered about bringing more medical care so close to existing services,” admits Deno Adkins, vice president, ambulatory network, Cone Health. “However, we aren’t bringing medical services, in the traditional sense, to Welden Village. We are bringing integrated health and wellness services tailored to the vision of Welden Village and in partnership with it.

Welden Village is a unique, 385-acre community in Kernersville with a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. Once completed, the community will include 1,900 residences, including single family homes, townhomes and apartments, along with a shopping village. The new Cone Health facility will add to that “miniature town” feel.

“This will be one of our first opportunities to enter a ‘live-work-play’ community,” says Jit Green, assistant director of ambulatory network, Cone Health. “This way Cone Health can serve people where they live and play to make their health care journey more convenient.”

The facility is expected to open in the summer of 2023.
